Recently I was delighted to attend and illustrate at the launch of Writers’ Tears Cask Strength 2017. The limited edition whiskey, of which only 5,280 bottles are produced is created by Walsh Whiskey Distillery. During the year I had worked closely with the Walsh Whiskey team to design and illustrate the packaging for the 2017 vintage. The new design links the artistic essence of Writers’ Tears to the creativity of whiskey distilling through a stunning chalkboard illustration. It depicts the field-to-bottle creation of whiskey and the rural influence on age-old whiskey traditions.
The launch event was held at L Mulligan Whiskey Shop, Powerscourt Town Centre, Dublin, where I was on hand to illustrate the guests holding the bespoke Writers’ Tears glass as they sampled the whiskey.
Writers’ Tears Cask Strength 2017 was recognised with a gold medal in the Irish Cask Strength Whiskey category, mere hours after it was officially launched to market.
