Fashion Illustrating At The Curragh Races 2016
Over the weekend I attended “Ladies Day” at the Curragh Racecourse, trying to sketch in between the thunder showers was a mission in itself but there was plenty of style to draw to say the least. I met some lovely people with some great outfits on the day, hopefully my fashion illustrations have done them justice! The beautiful Kirsty Farrell won “Best Dressed Lady” with a outfit from Rosies Closet, but the highlight of the day has to be meeting Joanne Lumley who had a race named in her honour for turning 70, she is still Ab Fab!!

The illustrations which I drew over the weekend are quite different from others I have illustrated from other race meetings, this is mainly down to the medium. These illustrations are quick sketches, colour is added using Copic Markers and Watercolour Paints. I find these the best media to use when on location. All my fashion illustrations start out in this format, firstly I would draw a rough sketch then I would clarify line detail and next design a colour palette using watercolours. In terms of colour this is a great guide if I was turning the illustration into a digital format.
