My day 3 of the @dublinpleinair painting festival (I couldn’t attend yest) we set up in @malahide_castle. I used @holbein_art gouache to paint this view of the pond & an unsuspected artist! 🔺Step 1- I work on a pencil sketch thumbnail to figure out the layout & composition. If it doesn’t work when it’s small, it’s not gona work when it’s big. 🔺 Step 2: A mini colour rough. This is a great way to work out ur palette & colour placement. Day 2 of the @dublinpleinair painting festival today was spent in Balbriggan harbour. I really loved the shape of the lighthouse & decided to create work around this. 👩🏻‍🎨✨ I challenged myself to use gouache instead of my usual watercolours & use a limited palette. 🎨🖌 Not a bad way to brush up on some skills & I even got to enjoy a sea swim 🏊🏻‍♀️ 🌊✨ #lindabyrneillustration #pleinair #dublinpleinairfestival #painting #goauche #paintoutdoors #onlocation #balbrigganharbour #ballbrigganbeach
